About The Author
Richard McMaster
The primary theme for all of my novels is overcoming obstacles.
I have faced many obstacles in my life and haven’t we all? I never felt it was unfair or that I faced more than anyone else. Comparatively, I am a lightweight in the facing obstacles department and mostly recognize the hidden blessings that come with my difficulties. We all face setbacks in our lives, financial, cultural, physical or psychological. Sometimes the obstacles we face are self-imposed unrealistic expectations, negative self-talk, physical incapabilities, or financial.
Through hope and persistence, my main characters overcame all manners of difficulties. I sent my patriotic character, Aaron, in the book, Aaron’s War, off to war when his friends doubted he could kill. And then, as if that wasn’t enough, he learned he was Jewish and his plans to marry the love of his life the Christian preacher’s daughter was forbidden.
Forrest Nelthorpe faces a horrifying loss in A Love Divided by Time and in the novel, The Attic, Byron Kelly confronts the emotional loss of his soul mate and career and pursues her killer. Sean Buchanan spends his entire life, in Voyage of Life, striving to be somebody and is burdened by a secret that takes a lifetime to reveal. Luke in The Other Half faces so many obstacles I felt bad putting him in those situations.
Before embarking on a writing career, I was a healthcare executive, heading up three different start-up companies, one of which was ranked the fifth largest of its kind in the United States. A native Iowan, I was blessed to have lived twenty years in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and now in Arizona.
