Several years ago, I co-founded the Arizona Traditions Writers Club. Actually, it was more of a hockey assist on my part. Carol Clavely, author of Western novels deserves the credit. Recently, she moved out of the area to be closer to family. She was an inspiration for my writing. A member of our writing club, Stu Cohen, penned a tribute for the Arizona Traditions Newsletter.
“Parting is such sweet sorrow,” a famous line borrowed from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, is an apropos way of saying goodbye to one of Arizona Traditions most distinguished writers. Nearly 94 years old, Carol Hart Caverly and her husband, Don Hart, moved from AZT a few weeks ago to live closer to family in Colorado.
Writing was Caverly’s world; the proof was her four mystery books and many short stories. “I wanted humor in my books.” Carol laughed, “I’m not a literary person.” Maybe Carol isn’t a literary person; she clearly enjoyed contributing her knowledge of the writing process at the monthly Writers Club meetings at AZT.”
