I have been a member of various writing groups and even co-founded one. The one I have belonged to for the longest time is the Phoenix Writers Club (PWC)

My friend, Cindi Reiss, president, will preside over the 100-year anniversary this year, 2026.  Cindi, a Jersey girl, has lived in Phoenix for 48 years and in my book is the poet laureate of PWC.  I asked her once if she was from outer space, not Jersy, such is my admiration for people can write good poetry. The poems mind is not like serious mind of long form prose writers.

Quoting Cindi, “Way back in 1926, some newspaper gals with gumption said, ‘Let’s join the Phoenix Press Club. The nerve of their assumption! The men gazed at them with smiles and smirks, but said they were not allowed. ‘We’re all professional journalists here, so you dames are in the wrong crowd.’ Those feisty ladies were not dismayed; they knew their talents were great, so they formed their own little writing club, and men were not on the slate-The Phoenix Writer’s Club.

Congratulations, 100 years and going strong.
