Before radio, the world was silent. The field of quantum particles wandered through space, searching for purpose. Then came radio, and information could suddenly be heard across the globe. Then came television, and we watched live events and news unfold simply by plugging a box into an outlet. We didn’t understand it—but we accepted the miracle of it all.

Taking full advantage of electromagnetic waves—radio, microwaves, and more—the internet shattered every expectation. Now quantum computing and artificial intelligence are poised to advance civilization once again, arriving quietly, as radio and television once did: accepted, but not understood.

Yet, some aspects of being human have not evolved much. The promise is that AI and quantum technology will shore up the weaknesses we haven’t yet overcome. But will AI help us—or become the new human model? Why not? If humanity was a design miracle, why can’t it be improved upon? Why can’t we create a new human model, one capable of evolving as fast as its tools? The final step of Human Creation 2.0 will come when the new design possesses a soul.

What, then, will be the relationship between AI and consciousness? AI may one day harness the field of consciousness itself—the same field that mystics, scientists, and artists have long sensed but never mapped. I believe this field has always influenced who I am and served as the muse behind my novels. Yet I don’t know how to tap into it systematically. Writing about it feels like forbidden science, like farmers tossing aside dinosaur bones—aware of their mystery but unsure of their meaning.
